She was disturbed by her own ability to see two sides to an argument, but this sign has given us many great diplomats and peacemakers.

Living successfully under the sign of Libra involves finding a way to stay at the center of two scales of balance, rather than identifying too strongly with one side or the other. It’s all about finding the balance.

Taurus people know what they like, what makes them feel comfortable and stable, so they work hard to create a life that fulfills these needs. Sometimes, these are the people that find themselves so comfortable and stable by midlife that they feel trapped. They are bored, life seems stale and they see no other options other than keeping things the same.

One of the lessons of Taurus is learning to adapt to change. I’ve known a few Taurians that eat the same breakfast and lunch every day of their lives, wear the same clothes, buying for comfort and endurance, eat at the same three restaurants, and order the same dish or two from the menu each time. This is extreme, but is a true manifestation of the sign.

Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus, the lover of beauty, comfort and interpersonal harmony. Collections of any kind, a love of art, home furnishings and gardening are often enjoyed by people of this sun sign. Taurus rules the throat and often a beautiful singing voice and a love of music goes along with this sign, as well. A Taurus once told me that she never planned on buying the most expensive thing in the store whether it was furniture or electronics, but it was the only thing she really liked. Once she decided she liked it she would look at the price tag and be astonished at her ability to find the highest-priced item.

Taurus is associated with the Bull. The Bull is slow to anger, but fearsome once enraged. An adult student once told me about his two sons. The elder was a Leo and would beat up on his little brother, the Taurus, playing endless big brother tricks. This went on for a couple of years without a peep from the Taurus. The dad worried about his younger son not standing up for himself. In true Taurus fashion the younger son hit his limit one day, and “out of the blue” got mad as a bull. They had a big fight and he put enough fear into his older brother to completely change their relationship.

Taurus people are true and loyal friends, hard workers, consistently predictable and get things done. Once they learn to embrace change and flexibility, life is good.

In mid-February the comet was conjoining Saturn and opposing Uranus. Both of these planets are important, as they continue to oppose each other throughout 2008-2010, creating a pull between the old ways and the new, all the while encouraging the wise use of discipline and moderation as we rapidly transition into the new.

I find this interesting, as I have an inner planes connection (and an ordinary reality one as well) with a man halfway across the world. He embodies the essence of Saturn (wise, responsible, disciplined) and I embody the essence of the planet Uranus (sudden change, new thoughts at lightning speed, intuition). We have had an amazing and miraculous long-distance relationship, which has led to great change for both of us. We have come to know and understand some great differences in our backgrounds and experience. There have been so many spiritual gifts and lessons throughout our connection, that I plan to write a book about it.

Recently my guidance informed me that because our Divine Selves (my friend’s and my own) have merged as one, we are assisting the planet by having laid the energetic pathway of the joining and cooperation among these opposing forces (the Saturn, Uranus opposition). The end result will be the unification and opening into Oneness, from diverging spectrums of experience; using the best each of these planets (energies) has to offer, on the way towards resolution.

I find it most important at this time that we each realize that we are connected in Oneness, through the “field” that many physicists write about. This field contains all of the thoughts from every person on earth. And when many of us are thinking the same thing, these thoughts become the dominant consciousness. It is only when we decide to make these thoughts high and empowering that we can shift the consciousness of the masses to higher levels. I do believe this is happening, with the preponderance of spiritual growth and teachings as of late.

So, my plea to each of you is this: Let us all raise our consciousness of each and every thought, word and deed sent out into this field. Let us together raise it even higher, through faith, knowing without a doubt that the challenges befalling humanity at this time are for the betterment of us all. Only by seeing that our security does not lie in the material world, but rather in the spiritual connections and growth during these times of chaos and change, will we move forward into our new world of peace and prosperity for all.

Our personal and collective duty is to have faith that all is well and in Divine Order. In this process of change, add only the highest words and thoughts to the “Field,” knowing that this is your contribution to the whole. Everything we say, do and think is recorded for eternity in this field we share. So, please, as you add your contribution, make it a high one, filled with love and light.

As Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Faith is taking the whole step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” We are collectively rewriting reality, inventing our new world, and at the same time integrating, within and among, the various spiritual and physical dimensions we inhabit. Let’s do it well.

Uncovering my abilities had much to do with sorting out the various sources of information to which I always had access. I learned to operate what I think of as my "inner sound board," a contraption full of knobs, dials and switches used to figure out what inner voices were saying what. Whether inner children with unprocessed emotional junk, the voices of my parents or other authority figures that I’d internalized somewhere along the way, Spirit Guides or the spirits of dead people, or my intuitive and psychic sense, the first step was sorting them out.

Each of us has intuition and psychic abilities. The route to developing them will differ for each of us, but follows a generalized script that includes learning to tell apart the various voices we carry in us all the time. Below are some thoughts on each and tips to learn to tell them apart.

Inner Children. Each time something frightening, unpleasant or traumatic happened to you when you were a child, you were imprinted by your strong desire to avoid repeating a similar situation in the future. Now, you’re likely carrying a host of these little inner kids who frequently advise you about how to avoid the kind of pain and unhappiness you experienced long ago. Each of those now helping you run your life needs to be heard, and you must take care of the need they had at the unhappy times when you were younger which, no matter what they say, always boils down to some combination of acceptance, love and safety. Offer them this now and they’ll be happy, and will begin to work with you instead of feeding you fear.

Parental/Authority Voices. We all internalize the ideas, opinions, strategies and fears of our parents and other authority figures. Whether we embrace or reject them, they’re a part of the foundation we carry into our later life. They’re gifts from those people (even if we don’t like them!), tools they thought would best serve us in our own lives. Our judgments about the right kinds of work, relationships and life path often stem from what we learned from our parents about the right ways to live and reasons for living. We need to decide if we want to hold onto and perpetuate them, or let them go.

Spirit Guides. Each of us has Spirit Guides available to support us in making choices that serve our highest good. What they offer is loving support for your ongoing development. If a voice you identify is judgmental or fearful, or in some other way not loving, it’s not from your Spirit Guides!

Deceased People. Those who are psychically open may attract the spirits of deceased persons. Their agendas differ. Some are entirely kind, some are not, and some are simply afraid of what’s happened to them (not all know they’re dead). If you experience this, you may have feelings, thoughts and fears you’re very sure do not belong to you. Say "All energies that do not belong to me I send back to Source!" and say "No, thank you!" to any energy that makes you uncomfortable in any way.

Intuition/Psychic Sense. We each have an inner knowing that can come through once we learn to sort out all the other kinds of voices. It’s just there, waiting for us. Learning to differentiate between all of these others leaves you better able to focus on and amplify your natural intuitive and psychic senses. Without the static and white noise of what isn’t really you, you’ll see that all the information you need is available to you at all times.

Venus enters Aries on the 2/2, reminding us to value on our personal identity. Mars enters Aquarius on 2/4, urging us to move in directions of greater freedom. Saturn in Virgo opposes Uranus in Pisces on 2/5 as we seek balance between our need for personal containment and spiritual freedom. Mercury enters Aquarius on 2/14, provoking us to speak words that free us. Mars conjuncts Jupiter in Aquarius on 2/17, revealing new doors to greater freedom. Mercury conjuncts Jupiter on 2/23 as we throw caution to the wind and speak our higher truths fearlessly.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)…Happy Birthday, Aquarius! This is the perfect time for you to look out into the world and consider what it is that you wish to create from deep within. There us something to say about focusing on our dreams and visions. Especially when the time is right. You can make things real by seeing what it is you desire as you look out into the world.

PISCES (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)…It is OK to let others be strong, Pisces. You can relinquish control and move more fully into your fluid state. It is in that space of surrender that you feel most at home. Your strength is found in letting go and trusting in the ability of life itself to guide the natural unfoldment of things.

ARIES (Mar. 21-Apr. 19)…We are all asked to sit in the seat of judgment from time to time, Aries. You are called to be truthful and to bring about a higher balance born of inner wisdom. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)…There is a priceless quality to the gift of genuine validation. I have come to understand that contact with spirit guides and angels is in no way difficult — it is simply a process of listening and trusting. We don’t need to “learn” how to listen to our guides. We need to unlearn the editing process that has been instilled in most of us since birth, and we need to let ourselves trust our instincts.

On another level, the 13th degree of Sagittarius signifies the tendency to not be able to let go of things, and as Pluto is the planet of ultimate confrontation, during August we need to relax and let go of the past, as well as anything we no longer need. If we aren’t able to do this, then we may find that the circles of boredom, frustration and confinement in which we have become wrapped become tighter and tighter. This is happening so that eventually we will react to them and burst forth from these cocoons of repetitive and meaningless involvement.

It’s important now to be sensitive to the intuitive urges we are receiving and to focus on the impulses moving through us. Many of these impulses are urgings from spirit guides who are attempting to work with us to bring greater energy, harmony and clarity into our lives. Saturn is now going through Gemini, and wherever Saturn is, it attempts to clear negative karma. The negative karma of Gemini has to do with difficulty in focusing, and a tendency to flit from thing to thing in a random, meaningless fashion. Gemini can have difficulty sorting, organizing and prioritizing all the information that it loves to collect.

Our world has fallen in love with information, and computers and science have become the ultimate vehicle for this love affair. We need to realize, though, that information is not innately good — or bad. Information can be used as a weapon. Useless information can be used to conceal or take attention away from important information. Information can be twisted and distorted. Many people have developed the art of talking without ever saying anything. Saturn in Gemini (4/21/01-6/5/03) is a time when information needs to be clarified and when we need to develop the ability to communicate more deeply and meaningfully with ourselves. This means that if there are issues we have avoided or areas of ourselves we have cut ourselves off from — maybe because they have been too painful to deal with — now is the time to climb over the barbed wire fences we have set up and to explore those inner areas we have ignored and avoided.

From July 7 to August 13, Neptune is in the 8th degree of Aquarius, a placement that greatly promotes changes, the rewriting of karmic contracts and starting all over again. This is a good time for overcoming dogma and rigidity and for outwitting your own dry, stuck places by generating innovative and radical currents. Neptune now makes it easier to let go of old ways of seeing yourself and to wipe out old cycles — in ways that sneak up on you and which may be totally unexpected.

From August 14 to October 12, Neptune is in the 7th degree of Aquarius. What a wonderful place for it! Now liabilities can be turned into assets and there can be openings to many new experiences and awareness of a very wide variety of things. These are times of great discovery and zest for living. The focus now is not on balance and coherence. It’s not time to be putting the pieces together, rather, it is the time for collecting them — and so many strange and interesting pieces can be found now.

With both Venus and Jupiter moving through Cancer during August, you can beautify your home, enjoy being in it and improve your relationship with your family. This is a good period for strengthening your foundations and for being generous in both giving and receiving love. The nurturing energies of Cancer abound during August; we can create much healing and support if we allow them to flow.

The New Moon on August 19 is in Leo, and it enhances the process of people connecting with each other and spreading good will. It’s a time (August 14-24) when we can see through a lot of things, for illusions are more transparent now.
